With the unemployment rate rising and many jobs being cut, many experienced professionals are taking a step back to maintain their employment. This is leaving fewer jobs for recent graduates.

The National Association of Colleges and Employers is currently showing a 22% decrease in job offers to new grads. The survey also reveals that only 19.7% of the 1.6 million who graduated in May 2009 have secured a position. Along with that, the U.S. Labor Department reports that the unemployment rate for bachelor degree holders is the worst since 1983, and that 1.4 million college graduates are about to enter a weak job market that seems to be getting worse.
